Finding a Healthy Balance Between Sun and Fun

Health requires a careful balance between various elements

When active people reach a certain age they’re often asked the secret to their youthful energy. Obviously different people have different views of what has gone into the full totality of their life. But there’s one answer which tends to come up far more often than any other. People with a long history of great health will often credit moderation. Even to the point of taking moderation in moderation at times. It might seem like an easy answer at first. But in reality, successfully balancing every aspect of life can be a rather difficult process at first. It’s quite possibly the main reason why those active and healthy older people are such a rarity.

Thankfully, the modern world has an amazing selection of tools which can help people better manage the various extremes of life. For example, finding a middle path between tanning and having no color to one’s skin at all. Either extreme comes with rather obvious problems. Pale skin usually means that one won’t get proper nutrients from the environment, the mood enhancing effects of nice weather, or even the chance to have fun taking walks or the like. Meanwhile tanning is correlated with skin cancer, premature aging, and a host of other issues. But a middle ground can be found when one realizes that while tanning is a problem, having a tan isn’t.

A tan is very different than tanning

When people work on a tan it’s usually by laying out in the sun for enough time to fully exhaust every bit of protective pigment their bodies can produce. It’s the damage caused by the exposure to the sun which is unhealthy, not the tan. In fact, tanning as a response to skin damage shows that the body is working as it should. But a new technique is now letting people trigger that healthy tanning effect without subjecting their skin to any damage, melanotan allows people to find the healthy compromise between two unhealthy extremes. It means people can go outside and enjoy the sun, while still protecting their skin against the elements. And all with a beautiful and healthy tan.
